My Blogging Essentials For Productivity and Organisation

Now I’m back to the idiotic task of running two blogs, organisation and productivity is more important than ever. I can’t have things all over the place otherwise my mind is a mess, things are unmanageable, and the act of blogging becomes incredibly daunting.

I love writing, I love sharing aspects of my life through blogging and these personal organisational and productivity essentials help me to continue doing just that! I’m also hoping that now I’m back on top of things again, they’ll help to stave off the unwelcome slumps, the lack of motivation, and anxiety I do sometimes get with blogging because at the end of the day it is my hobby and not a job.

A notebook (or two)

I used to simply rely on one notebook for all my blogging needs: ideas, lists of what posts to write, notes connected to all the posts etc. Now I am running Live Craft Read Love, and Turn Another Page, I have a set notebook for each blog. I can’t have them combined otherwise I will get confused, I’ll lose the notes I’ve written down and cause myself a lot of stress trying to remember what I planned and when. They’re not even notebooks specifically for planning – just simple A5 lined notebooks. Although I do personally like these from Paperchase which have ribbon bookmarks and an elastic to keep everything together.

Truthfully I am more of a physical planner, preferring to draft and take notes with pen and paper, but sometimes I do end up doing things digitally and Evernote is the note taking/planning app I prefer the most. I have a notebook for each blog and in there are all the notes and links I might need for all the posts. Also the fact it can be used across a couple of devices (and more if you upgrade to a subscribed plan) means it is easy to note down an idea on my phone if I’m out and about.

A Calendar Spreadsheet

For me, this is the most important tool! I tend to write posts in batches and schedule them ahead of time so knowing what I’m posting and when is really helpful. I have mine set up in Numbers on Mac and I wouldn’t be without it! Once I finish writing, editing and scheduling a post, I just colour the cell and it is done.

Headphones and background music

I need quiet or background noise of an easily controllable nature in order to concentrate on writing. Living in a household of four adults and two dogs (who bark at EVERYTHING!) I don’t get those optimum conditions very often so wearing noise cancelling headphones helps me tune that out. I can stick on some music at a volume I personally control, mainly ambiance music from the Disney parks, and the perfect blogging conditions are set!

What are your blogging essentials? What helps keep you organised?

Hello, I’m Emma aka pageturner92, and welcome to my little corner of the online book world. When I don’t have my head in a book, I’m either working on an endless pile of crochet or knitting projects, playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons, listening to Disney music, or watching my favourite shows on repeat.
